Time Trials and Training

Time Trials:

Sedgefield Striders meet on Wednesday evenings for time trials and fun walk/ run at the Sedgefield Bowling Club. Time trials are run/walked over 3, 4 and 5 km routes.  The time trials start and end in Wally van der Walt Rd and follow three routes are on the roads around the Sedgefield Island.

Starting times vary according to the season.  In the summer months from September to April time trials start at 17:30.  In the winter months with shorter daylight hour time trials start at 17:15.

Social training:

Runners and walkers meet on Saturday mornings for less formal training (meeting venues and routes are confirmed on WhatsApp by the Walking and Running Captains on the Friday).  Starting times vary according to the season, the two groups choose their own distance and route. Runners are often in training for the next big race so distance varies while walkers normally walk 10 – 12km.

Our Saturday training sessions have become more than just a run or walk: they are a cherished community ritual. After pushing ourselves through the morning’s challenges, we gather at a local coffee shop to unwind. This post run/walk is where the magic happens – athletes animatedly share their experiences, recounting the highs and lows of their workout.

Conversations are filled with laughter, encouragement and valuable insights. Join us, not just for the training but for the camaraderie that follows.

Runners and walkers register on respective WhatsApp Groups where timely information is shared.
