Tortoise Tuff 2025

🏃♂ Tortoise Tuff 2025: A Race of True Grit! 🏃♀
Saturday, 22 March, started before sunrise with club members and sponsors preparing the field for late registrations and final race logistics. As the clock struck 07h00, runners lined up for the 30km, 21.1km, and 10km distances, their excitement filling the morning air. With no breeze to cool them down, the fresh start soon gave way to a scorching day.
From Sedgefield Primary School, the well-marked route led runners through the picturesque suburb, across the Island, and up the gruelling hills that define the Tortoise Tuff. Some inclines were so steep, it seemed runners were moving parallel to the road! This is no ordinary race—it demands determination and endurance.
The thrill of seeing the first runners cross the finish line was met with equal anticipation as everyone waited for the last runner to come in. The field was alive with energy, runners embracing, celebrating their achievements, and sharing stories of their race experience. Many posed at the Instagram board, capturing memories, while others simply stretched out on the grass, resting tired legs. Food stalls offered much-needed replenishment, and the lively music added to the festive atmosphere as runners and supporters sought shade from the blazing sun, soaking in the camaraderie of the day.
As the sun intensified, finishers crossed the line drenched in sweat but beaming with pride. Prize-giving was a celebration of grit, perseverance, and the incredible support from our sponsors. A huge thank you to Pet & Pool, Coca Cola, Top Gear George, Beauty Aesthetics, Build It Sedgefield, Flat Lizard, Oasis, Super Spar Sedgefield, Bob and Elaine Dudley, and The Edge Newspaper for making this event a success!
See you all next year for another Tuff challenge! 💪🐢

Celebrate 25 Years of Scenic racing: Join us at Sedgefield
This exciting race has been in the making for 25 years. There’s a 21km run for the serious marathoners, a 10km run/walk for the sprinters, and a 3km fun walk/run for the family. The route takes runners through our quaint little town and truly showcases the beauty of Sedgefield. Participants will enjoy a scenic route along the shimmering lagoon, with breathtaking views of the ocean, lush greenery, and charming streets lined with vibrant flora. This race is an annual highlight for the community, attracting runners from all over the country to take on this picturesque challenge.
I must add that this event would not be possible without the support of our sponsors. We’d like to give a big shout out to our local Pick and Pay family store, Engen 1 Stop, and all the other sponsors for their wonderful support. They are an integral part of this community and have been helping us throughout the years. We want people to come out to support the runners and make this event a success!
